Story by Elwood Branhum
In 1938, when we were to play Howe, they refused to play us on the old football field between McKinney and White Streets because the field was only 90 yards long. Pilot Point went out west of town and laid out a 100 yard field in the Jacobs cow pasture. It was located across from the sale barn and east of Paul Pels' place. That's where they beat us 12-0. I remember it well. I was in the first grade and they bused us out there for the game.
