Martinez lifts Bearcats to OT win
Pilot Point place kicker Rueben Martinez came through in the clutch again Friday night , nailing a 24-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Bearcats to a 24-21 victory over Gainesville.
The victory was the second of the season for the Bearcats and evened their District 9-3A record at 1-1.
Gainesville (2-5, 0-2) tied the score with 1:42 in the game on an 18-yard scramble by quarterback Denzel Johnson and an extra point kick jy Juan Hernandez. The Leopards had one last shot to win the game in regulation, but Hernandez missed a long field goal try with 13 seconds left, sending the game into overtime.
