Bearcats run past Kirbyville, 35-18

They had talked about it since the seventh grade.
They talked about it more after losing to Muleshoe in the state semifinals last year.
And they talked about it even more after two of their teammates lost their father to cancer three weeks ago.
The pilot Point Bearcats had plenty of reasons to focus on a state championship, and they accomplished their goal Saturday in Sam Marcus with a 35-18 win over the Kirbyville Wildcats in the Class 2A Division I championship game at Bobcat Stadium on the Texas State University campus.
The wine gave the Bearcats a perfect 15-0 record - the second time in school history - and brought home a third state championship trophy for the school. The Bearcats were state co-champions in 1980 and won the title outright in 1981.
