Lightning and rain threatened Pilot Point's home opener last Friday, but after a 30-minute delay, the elements slowed down just enough to allow the Beracats a 39-14 win over Ferris.
With the turf at Massey Stadium reduced to mud and rain misting throughout the game, the Bearcats stuck to what they do best-running the ball in the hands of quarterback Seth Tilley and slot receiver Jarman Johnson. The two seniors accounted for all but 15 yards of the Bearcats' total 424 yards of offense and all 39 points.
"Seth didn't want to throw too much. He couldn't get a good grip on the ball," Johnson said, "but they couldn't stop us anyway."
Tilley did connect with Johnson for a 20 yard touchdown pass for the Bearcats' final score of the night and completed five for 10 for 46 yards.
