 Mules buck Bearcats

For three weeks, the Pilot Point Bearcats kept their fans on the edge of their seats in the Class 2A Division I playoffs.

First there was a come-from-behind 32-28 win over Boyd in bi-district. The next week, the Bearcats had to hang on for a 15-13 win over Gunter in a regional playoff. And finally, Pilot Point broke a 24-24 tie with a 25-yard field goal with 4 seconds left to beat Winnsboro.

But last week in Abilene the Cats' magic finally ran out.

The undefeated Muleshoe Mules kept their record clean and knocked the Bearcats out of the state playoffs, 35-10, in the state semifinals at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene.

"Muleshoe has a good football team," Pilot Point coach Blake Feldt said. "The bottom line is we didn't take advantage of our opportunities. We didn't score or we turned the ball over."
