Defense steps up to lead win for district title

Pilot Point's offense led the team in the Bearcat's previous six wins, averaging 48 points in those contests.
but against Callisburg on Friday night, it was Pilot Point's defense that came through, holding the powerful Wildcat offensive attack to just two field goals before a late touchdown in the final minutes of the game.
The result was an 18-13 District 2-A win at Massey Stadium that secured a district title for Pilot Point for the first time in 10 years.
"It was a great victory for our players," Pilot Point coach Blake Feldt said. "I'm proud of the way they prepared since the offseason. I can't be more proud of our players. My hat goes off to them."
The Bearcats, 4-0 in district and 7-1 overall, have been regular participants in the playoffs over the years but missed them last year in Class 3A. after the Bearcats dropped to Class 2A, expectations immediately were high, and the team was ranked No. 2 in the state in a preseason poll by Dave Campbell's Texas Football.
