Sanger knocks Pilot Point out of unbeaten ranks

by Keith Magee

With both teams coming in with unbeaten records, Friday's non-district football game between the Pilot point Bearcats and the Sanger Indians was expected to be a dogfight.

It was everything and more, as Sanger edged the Bearcats, 70-6, in a non-district battle of the neighboring rivals.

The loss dropped Pilot Point, which entered the game ranked third in the state in class 2A, to 2-1 on the season. Sanger, an unranked 3A tem, improved to 4-0.

Pilot Point head coach Blake Feldt was hard-pressed to pin down a reason for the loss.

"It's hard to put my finger on it," Feldt said. "We had one of the best weeks of practice, especially the offense.

"We didn't play very well. We had lots of mistakes and lots of penalties."
