Injured Nix passes over Pilot Point

By Shawn Yorks

With their backs against the wall in the District 9-3Arace, the Prosper Eagles responded with a solid 25-6 win over Pilot Point on Friday night at Prosper High School. With the win Prosper pulls into a tie with Pilot Point in the district standings with identical 2-2records.The Bearcats (4-3 overall,2-2 district) got off to a roaring start when, on the game’s first play, Cooper Guthrie took a pitch from quarterback Ethan Stuckly, followed a hole created by his offensive line and rumbled 76 yards for a touchdown. Just like that, Pilot Point led 6-0. It would be their last lead. On Prosper’s first possession,1,200-yard passer Hunter Nix was injured, taking away the Eagles’ primary offensive weapon. And it showed as backup Williams was intercepted by Nathanael Reigel on Prosper’s second possession.
