Cats have a lot of 'growing up' to do
By Shawn Yorks Sports Editor
Several first-game mistakes and a couple questionable calls led to demise of the Pilot Point Bearcats last Friday night, 20-6 to Dallas St. Mark's.
In a game that began with the St. Mark's public address announcer calling them the "Pilot Point Bear Pole Cats," the Bearcats drew first blood behind the running of sophomore Jarman Johnson.
After St. Mark's punted twice and the Cats threw an interception, Johnson capped Pilot Point's third series of the season with a 30-yard scoring run. From the Pilot Point 26, quarterback Ethan Stuckly passed 20 yards to Stuart Tilley. A couple of quick dives by Johnson and Cooper Guthrie and a 19-yard Stuckly to Tilley pass set up the scoring run by Johnson.
"We were really pleased with the way that Jarman is playing," said head coach Blake Feldt. "Obviously he has a tremendous amount of talent and has the potential to be a great fullback."
