The Celina Bobcats beat up the rival Pilot Point Bearcats Friday night.
Eight different Pilot Point players left the field with injuries, including starting tailback Blake Feagins in a 42-0 drumming by Celina at Bobcat Stadium.
"Here was the problem, we lost all of our football players," said Pilot Point coach Blake Feldt. "We lost eight different guys. We simply ran out of players. It got to a point, where we didn't have any running backs. On a punt late in the game, we had to call a timeout because most of our punt team was injured. I've never been in that situation before."
Feagins, who rushed for 292 yards last week, left Friday's game with a shoulder injury after Pilot Point's first offensive series. Feagins carried the ball twice for five yards and caught one pass for eight yards.
Feldt said the Bearcats lost a majority of the gameplan with Feagins. The Bearcats also lost backup tailback Michael Yarnell with a concussion in the first half.
Without Feagins in the game, the Bearcats and quarterback Arthur Buckingham were easy prey for the Celina defense, which posted its third straight shutout. The Bobcats limited Pilot Point to just three first downs and a total of 114 yards.
Celina defensive back Dru Prosser picked off Buckingham three times. Buckingham completed five of his 17 passes for 107 yards with the three interceptions. Buckingham was sacked eight times, finish with minus-9 yards on 16 carries.
With Pilot Point trailing 28-0, Buckingham completed a 61-yard pass to Ricky Henderson late in the third quarter to get the ball inside Celina's 10-yard line. After two sacks of Buckingham and two Pilot Point penalties, the Bobcats turned the Bearcats away empty on fourth down and kept the shutout intact.
The Celina offense was equally as impressive as the Bobcats' defense. The Bobcats scored on six of their 11 possessions, tallying 410 yards. Using eight different backs, Celina rushed for 261 yards on 44 carries.
Celina quarterback Nathan Tune threw for three touchdowns and ran for another. Tune connected with Connor Nichols on all three touchdown passes, covering 33, 7 and 4 yards. Tune completed 11 of his 21 passes for 149 yards with one interception. Tune also rushed for 59 yards on seven carries.
