Cats shut out Van Alstyne, 40-0  

The Pilot Point defense ended the regular season the way it started: with a shutout.
The Bearcats forced four turnovers and limited Van Alstyne to just seven first downs in a 40-0 victory Friday night at Massey Stadium.
Pilot Point (6-4, 3-2) clinched third place in District 9-3A and a playoff berth with the win. The Bearcats won their final three district games to qualify for the playoffs.
"We knew what we had to do to get in the playoffs," said Pilot Point senior Tyler Hollar. "We did everything we had to do."
Pilot Point will play Quinlan Ford, the 10-3A champion, in bi-district. The time and place for the game is undetermined.
The shutout was Pilot Point's second of the season.
"The defense is playing better," said Pilot Point coach G.A. Moore. "They've really came together the last couple of games."
Pilot Point limited Van Alstyne (4-6, 1-4) to 47 yards in the first half. Van Alstyne finished with 199 yards.
The Bearcats' offense ran wild, amassing 476 yards. The Bearcats rushed for 314 yards on 49 carries.
Pilot Point running back Jarrail Johnson, caught, ran and threw for touchdowns in the first half. Johnson's 41-yard pass to Damas Reed gave Pilot Point a 33-0 halftime lead. Johnson finished with 217 all-purpose yards, including 93 rushing on 11 carries.
